Rudy Gonzales Sr.
- age 84 peacefully passed away Saturday, October 13th, 2018 in Ft. Walton Bch, Fl. after a courageous battle of health complications. He was born on September 28, 1934, in Bakersfield, California the son of Mariano R. Sr. and Mary L. Gonzales. He was raised in California, with his 4 sisters and 3 brothers; Margaret Lange, Virginia Valdez, Mary E. Ramos, Alice J. Jaramillo, Richard, David, and Mariano Gonzales Jr. Being raised in a close knit, loving family would be at the core of who Rudy was for the rest of his life.
Rudy Sr. married Barbara J. Lawson and they raised their family in Orlando, FL.. Rudy Sr. and Barbara Jean Gonzales loved their life together mostly sharing it with family, whether it was attending large family reunions, his time umpiring baseball games, enjoying their favorite homemade meals while enjoying entertaining at the home they built together, dancing, playing cards, deep sea fishing, Jai Alai or just the time spent traveling together. Now on this day they will be laid to rest in peace together as it was their final wishes.
Rudy Sr. was predeceased by his wife and son, Rudy Gonzales, Jr.. He is survived by his 5 daughters M. Jeanette Gonzales, Cynthia A. Hill, Diana L. Monday, Tammy Allen and Mary Ann Gonzales; 12 grandchildren Samantha Ann Heiser, Barbara J. Pate, S. Kenny Pate, Jennifer White, Larry W. & Shannon L. Hoss, Jacqueline “Jackie" McLeaney, Stefanie “Nickie” Shemwell, Christopher Evans, Brandon Williams, Brittany Gonzales, Melissa Hershey; 28 great grandchildren Meghan and Ashley Bond, Jake Simmons, Trace, Penelope & Toby Pierson, Benjamin & Baby Bond, Tristen Evans, Jacob and Kayla McLeaney, Isias and Aaliyah Serrano, Zachary and Justin Cole, Brandon Shemwell, Izaylise Kaylani Febles, Brielle Diaz and Anthony Diaz, Arabella Williams, Brooke, Samantha and Jameson Pate, Noah and Aubree White, Keigan Allen, Nathanial and Connor Hershey.
Rudy Sr. proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force and will be honored on this day for his time served. He was truly proud of his time served, he made his family extremely proud for all of his accomplishments. He also worked for the United States Postal Service for most of his career until he gave it all up for his true passion and great love for the game of golf. Rudy's favorite spot was the golf course where he worked his way to become a Professional Golfer at Dubstread Golf Club.
Rudy Sr. embraced life and was the perfect balance of loving, funny, and sincere. He had a generosity that was constant. He loved his family beyond measure. He had this infectious laughter that came with his great wit and friendly smile that could light up any room and brighten the darkest of days… Rudy Shined. He will be greatly missed by all that loved him.
Aside from being a loving Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Papa, Uncle, Friend… He was a wonderful man, with a kind soul that was truly loved by all. He was the most loyal, loving and supportive man in every role he played in his life. He was a great man that possessed so many qualities and he just had this amazing ability to see the good in people regardless of their shortcomings, he was a master at offering benefit of doubt and would give you the shirt off his back. He was hardworking, never complained a single day in his life about what it required to take care of business, he was an amazing provider and supporter toward all he loved. Rudy Shined. He shined most with his family. He was happiest and brightest with his ‘babies’.
Tio Rudy, I will miss you so much, I have nothing but loving memories of you. You were one of my heroes and great role models. Thank you.
