Born in Anniston, Alabama on December 5, 1927, Alice Jean Love Gordon made her home in College Park in Orlando, Florida. In 1949, Jean married Dr. Thomas Edwin Gordon, Jr. and they quickly added three children: Tina Lynne, Thomas Gary and Karen Anne. Jean was most known for her warm heart and kindness and was most was drawn to do philanthropic work with the Episcopal Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Orlando; with the Girl Scouts of America as a scout leader; the American Cancer Society; The Orlando Symphony; the Orlando Opera Company and the Central Florida Scottish Highland Games. At the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, she served on the wedding committee, the food committee and weekly made delicious homemade baked goods that were served every Sunday. Her almond, chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies were unparalleled. Her almond cake is legendary. Jean and her husband, Tom, joined the Scottish American Society and she served as chairman of the Scottish Games for many years. She continued as a member of the organizing committee, founded the Shortbread and Scones food competitions at the Games, supported all forms of Scottish dance and founded the Florida branch of the clan organization, the House of Gordon. Her professional career encompassed real estate, becoming a certified myofunctional therapist when this was a new field and she managed her husband’s dental practice and much more. Jean, aged 95 years, seven months and seven days when she passed, leaves behind two daughters, Tina Leslie and Karen Dallett, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her only son, Thomas Gary, passed in his home the week prior to her death. They were both deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Services will be held at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 130 N. Magnolia Ave, Orlando, FL, on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cathedral Church of St. Luke or to the Central Florida Scottish Highland Games.
