Bertie Radloff

September 4, 1919 — February 24, 2019

Bertie Lee Gentry-Radloff, born September 4, 1919, went to be with her beloved husband on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 3:00 a.m. Bertie was born in Dayton, Tennessee to Robert and Bertha Gentry. She was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters. She married Walter Albert Radloff on September 4, 1937 on her eighteenth birthday. Together they had five exuberant and talented children.
Family was very important to Bertie. She often said that the best time of her life was when all five of her children were under the same roof. She had: two sons, three daughters, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
In her early 60s, Bertie studied the art of making stained glass and, with the assistance of her two sons, set up a glass studio in her home. She quickly became a talented artisan. Many of her beautiful pieces decorate local homes and offices throughout Central Florida.
All who knew Bertie celebrated her. A true optimist, she made the very best of every situation. She was always in a good mood and was a fantastic listener. She had a way of making every person feel like they were her favorite. She was an accomplished chef and passed on many secret family recipes from her family's English-Irish heritage. She loved to go shopping and dressed to the nines well into her late nineties. She also loved to play cards. Her favorite game was Pinochle. Bertie was a devout believer in the Almighty God. She was a member of two Methodist churches. The first, in her hometown of Dayton, Tennessee, and the second in Saint Petersburg, Florida. In the latter part of her life, she celebrated every Sunday by watching Joel Osteen.
Bertie Radloff is survived by her daughters: Barbara Ager, Marlene Radloff, and Janene Silver. She was pre-deceased by her husband Walter Radloff, her two sons: Thomas Radloff and Ernie Radloff, and her grandson: Timothy Radloff.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 28th from 10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at Highland Funeral Home, 3329 East Semoran Blvd., Apopka, FL where a Celebration of Bertie's Life will commence at 10:30 a.m.
