Betty Jo Gay passed away quietly at home on July 26, 2023 from natural causes. She was born in Wappingers Falls, New York to Harold E. and Marguerite E. Parkhurst on June 16, 1934. Raised in Ripley New York, she attended Ripley High School until eighth grade where she quit school to work on farms to help support her family. In 1953, she married Charles William Long and became a homemaker, producing five children with this union, until his death on September 18, 1984. In 1985, Betty remarried William Floyd Gay in Rockledge, Florida, only to lose him in 1992. She reserved herself to a life of independence, but remained a loving sister, mother, and grandmother. Betty’s siblings are Robert, Patricia, Norman, Elaine, and Larry. Her children are Robert, Barbara, David, Virginia, and Matthew. She has six grandchildren; Kimberly, Angelica, Manuel, Amanda, Brandon, and Crystal. Her nine great-grandchildren are Cierra, Emily, Colin, Christian, Benjamen, Dominic, Chloe, Alex, and Ashley. Betty is survived by three siblings, four children, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Betty was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Zellwood, Florida.
