Bill Murphy

I'm not here for a long time I'm here for a good time.

William “Bill” Ivey Murphy, age 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, March 23, 2023. He was born August 2, 1957, in West Palm Beach, FL, to Jason Murphy and Aurelia Coble Murphy.  Bill graduated from Lakeview High School, class of 1975, where he forged life-long friendships. Shortly after graduating he began dating the love of his life, Denise Drolet Murphy. Some would say she knocked his socks off. Others would say he never found them.

An avid mechanic, Bill spent countless hours fixing up go-karts, boats, cars, and anything else with an engine. He loved to see his projects finished and sold, usually just to buy another clunker to work on. His children have fond memories of go-kart rides, T-bucket cruising and the occasional side of the road breakdown. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and a touch of mischief; and he treasured time with his family.

Bill will be remembered for his happy personality and encouraging spirit he so generously shared with his friends and family. He had a quick wit and a joke for every occasion. He was always happy to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Nothing gave him greater joy than putting a smile on someone’s face.

As patriarch of the Murphy family, Bill had unconditional love for his children and grandchildren, of whom he was very proud. Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Denise Drolet Murphy, his son, Matt Murphy (Jamie Weideman), and two daughters, Lauren Hinton (Matt Hinton), Chelsea Acosta (Joe Acosta), a brother, Jay Murphy of Elizabeth’s City, NC, a sister, Sandi Jowers of Winter Garden, four grandchildren: Elijah Hinton, Jacob Hinton, Blakely Acosta and Bryce Acosta and his Aunts Frances Coble Nickles and Peggy Coble Best. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathy Wise.

Family will receive friends for a drop-in visitation Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 5 PM - 7 PM at Highland Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Apopka, FL. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11 AM at the Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider holding a mass in his honor or memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
