Catherine Marion Mc Laughlin

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Catherine Marion McLaughlin. Born on January 10, 1952, in Wellsville, New York, Catherine passed away peacefully at her home in DeLand, Florida, on July 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by love, with her daughters by her side, holding her hand. A devoted Catholic, Catherine found great comfort in her faith and faced the end of her life with peace, trusting in the Lord she loved.

Family was the center of Catherine's life. She treasured her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and found her greatest joy in the time spent with those she loved, creating memories and traditions that will be cherished for years to come.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Leatha Ransom; her father, Adam Mertsock; her beloved stepfather, John (Jack) Ransom; her first husband, Richard Confer; her second husband, James McLaughlin; her beloved son, Adam Confer; her brothers, Allen Mertsock, Larry Mertsock, John Mertsock, and Steven Mertsock; and her parents-in-law, Richard and Hazel Confer and Homer and Arlene McLaughlin.

Catherine is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Confer) Boyd and her husband, Scott Boyd, and Erin (McLaughlin)
Carello; her six beloved grandchildren; one cherished great-granddaughter; and her sisters, Dorothy Klesa and Janet Rumsey.

Those who knew Catherine will remember her for her kindness, unwavering faith, and steadfast devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her and rests in the eternal peace with the Lord.
