Charlotte Buchanan

Charlotte Smith Buchanan
age 89 of Tavares, FL.;, passed away October 1, 2018 at Fred and Helen DiScipio Hospice House of Tavares. She was born February 8, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Reid and Della (Gilmore) Smith.

Charlotte earned her BA in Art from Hendrix College, where she met her husband Harry Richard Buchanan. They married in 1950 and were married for 34 years until Harry passed away in 1984.

Charlotte taught elementary school, beginning for a few years in the fourth grade, but then teaching art for many years at Springfield Elementary School (Springtown, PA), combining her love of art with her love of teaching. During those years, she also earned her Masters Degree in Education.

After her husband's death, Charlotte worked as a Realtor with Holland Realties, and worked in the office at Fox Run, Tavares, for many years. She served as the President of the Fox Run Homeowners Association.

She is survived by their four daughters, Nancy Chesnutt (Tom), Patti Kemner (Skip), Susan Buchanan (Rick) and Mindi Brown (Frank).
