David Glenn Shepard passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving wife, he suffered a long illness and a broken heart after losing his daughter in January 2023.

David was born in New Jersey to Jack and Gloria Shepard. Growing up, David was an avid Boy Scout and earned the Eagle Scout title. He graduated from Toms River High School in 1966 and graduated from the University of Florida in 1976. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and certifications in Special Needs Education, Learning Disabilities, Mentally and Emotionally Handicapped children.

Upon graduation David moved to Greely, Colorado and taught for four years in a rural area. He also taught at several schools and found his passion at Jones High School where he worked for 13 years and then taught at Apopka High School for another 13 years. He taught a total of 34 years in Orange County and four years in Greeley, Colorado. He impacted countless students throughout his career in education.

David is predeceased by his parents, Jack and Gloria Shepard, daughter Lori Ann Morris and his brother Paul Joseph Shepard.

He leaves behind his loving wife Marsha Shepard of Apopka, FL, sister Dr. Diane Shepard-Tew (Jerry) of North Carolina; daughter Leita Askew (Timothy) of Orlando; Son Jeremy Glasgow; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Paula Milligan; sister-in-law’s Linda Shepard and Pam Crowley.

David also leaves behind grandchildren: Tyler Askew (Angelica); Conner Askew (Courtney); Madeline Kelch (Ashley); Mason Cunningham (Madison); Jacob Glasgow; Leita Glasgow and great grandchildren: Rhett Askew; Emilah Rae Askew and Avery Cunningham.

The family extends their gratitude to VITAS Hospice for the love and support they extended. Team # 190, you ARE Angels.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s memory to the Second Harvest Food Bank or to the St. Jude Foundation.
