Ernesto Fandino Lozano

February 1, 1949 — June 9, 2023

Altamonte Springs

Ernesto passed away on June 9 at the age of 72. He was born on February 2, 1949 in Girardot, Colombia, the son of the late Jose and Carmen Rosa Fandiño. Before immigrating to the United States in the 1980’s, he was a public accountant in Bogota, Colombia. In the United States, Ernesto lived in Silver Spring, Maryland for ten years before moving to Orlando, Florida, where he worked various jobs to provide for his family.  Ernesto enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to salsa, and watching soccer. He loved spending time with his family and playing chess with his grandkids. Ernesto was a member of Forest City Seventh Day Adventist Church where he attended services and volunteered his time as a Deacon.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gladys Fandino, son Andres (Leslie) Fandino, son Oscar (Ashley) Fandino, daughter Johanna (Richard) Fandino, and grandchildren Nathalie, Seth, Daniel, Nathan, Kaden, and Camden Fandino.

Our Dad was a good man who loved his wife and children with all his heart. He made the sacrifice of moving us to this beautiful country where each of us would have the best opportunities in life. He was always on the sidelines cheering for our success and was always proud of what we’ve achieved. When the family began to grow, his love also grew for his two beautiful daughters-in-law, Leslie and Ashley. Then, his grandchildren Natalie, Seth, Daniel, Nathan, Kaden, and Camden were born and our Dad's heart doubled in size. The grandchildren lit up his eyes and he was proud of each of them. Our dad was an intellectual man and always desired to learn new things regardless of his age. He was always willing to help anyone in need, from family members to friends, they were all blessed by him. He did not hold grudges against anyone and did his best to provide for his family.

Our Dad had some sayings in Spanish that we carry to our children. (Mi papa tenia unas frases que repetia constantemente y yo se las repito a mis hijos):

  • Use el sentido comun (Use your common sense)
  • No llore que los hombres no lloran (Don't cry because men don't cry)
  • Hay que hacer las cosas bien (Always do things the right way)
  • En esta vida todo tiene solucion (In this life everything has a solution)

He always had a strong will and a positive outlook. We will continue to love him and honor his wishes.
