Esau "Sal" Varela

Esau "Sal" Varela of Apopka, Florida passed away on July 4, 2026 at the age of 63. He was born on October 19, 1962, in New Britain, Connecticut where he grew up with 2 other siblings and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He moved to Orlando, Florida in 1973. He worked for Buena Vista Construction at Disney World for 33 years. He retired to Suches, Georgia in 2017.

He is preceded in death by his sons Gabriel and Daniel Varela and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Tanya Varela, parents Delia and Jesus Varela, daughter, Nichole Varela, step children, Natalie Bown , Saverio and Colton Macrina, sisters Ruth Caldwell and Judith Maddock, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandchildren.

Sal left us too soon, but he has now made his home with his Heavenly Father where the streets are gold and there is no sickness or pain. Sal loved the Lord and showed the love of Jesus every day to everyone by his actions and many times by words. The Lord taught him to play the bass, and he used this talent to glorify God with numerous worship teams throughout his lifetime. Sal was creative and talented with his hands and could do anything he set his mind to. Sal had so much goodness in his heart and all who knew him loved him.

The family would like to thank Advent Heath Palliative Care of Orlando, Florida and Advent Health Hospice team for the care and compassion they showed Sal in his final days

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Ceremony at Orlando Christian Church, 5850 Clarcona Ocoee Rd, Orlando 32810 on July 10, 2026 at 10 AM. Burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens, 3329 East Semoran Blvd, Apopka, Florida 32703.
