Evaristo Frias

November 15, 1944 — May 25, 2023

Evaristo, Frias, 78, born on November 15, 1944, in Tenares, Dominican Republic went to heaven in Orlando Reginal Medical Center, Orlando, Florida, on May 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the father of 4, grandfather of 5. Evaristo was a faithful Christian, amazing husband and father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend.

Before immigrating to the United States in 1969, Evaristo was a Police Officer in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where he served as Office Secretary in the Police Academy General Rodriguez Arias. In the United States, Evaristo lived mostly in Lawrence, Massachusetts and Orlando Florida. In Massachusetts, he worked for many years at AT&T (previously Western Electric) in North Andover, and in Orlando, Florida, he operated his own business, Frias Auto Repair. He was a detailed and professional Tailor, which he also worked as for many years and had very good office organizational skills.

Evaristo served his church community and loved praising and worshiping God with his beautiful tenor voice. While in the Dominican Republic, belonged to the Assemblies of God Church in Los Mina, Santo Domingo, he sang in Arpa Evangelica, a known national choir;  in Massachusetts Evaristo was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Lawrence MA, where he sang in Los Seguidores del Rey Soberano Choir; He was one of the founders of Iglesia Metodista Cristiana in Lawrence, and in Orlando attended the Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal in Pine Hills and later the Free Methodist Church in Winter Park. He sang for several years in the First Baptist of Orlando Christmas Singing Trees.

What stood out most was his love for people. He loved to serve others and could easily begin a conversation with a stranger and make him/her feel accepted. He loved to make people feel welcomed. He was a very humble man who loved and protected his younger siblings, as he helped raise them, and continued to devout his care and attention to his immediate family. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Evaristo married his lovely wife Margarita Grullon on December 30, 1977. Together they had 4 beautiful girls, Lily, Leea, Lori and Lisa, all born in Massachusetts. The things they would miss the most are: The sound of his voice and working on projects, his smile, laugh, amazing singing and work ethic, his pride and joy for his grandchildren (Francesca, Andy, Lucas, Tomas and Sebastian), his impressions of characters and jokes, and his hugs among many other things.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Evaristo Fabio Frias and Maria Natividad Estrella and his infant siblings Ezequiel Antonio and Belkis Elizabeth Frias.
