Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gail Howland Hoover. However, we rejoice with the heavenly host that she is at home now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and those who have gone before. She was born Susan Gail Howland in Miami, Florida, on June 10th, 1953. Her parents were Milton Emerson “Pappy” Howland and Francis “Fran” Grogan Howland, who preceded her to heaven. She was the youngest of four children. Gail was engaged to be married on February 14th, 1982, Valentine's Day, and married Marc Hoover of Orlando, Florida, on August 7th, 1982. Their wedding was held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, Florida. Through the years, they enjoyed raising two children, four grandchildren, serving the Lord, and having many adventures together. Gail departed from this world on February 13th, 2026.

Gail was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a cherished friend to many. She is survived by her sister, Judy Crankshaw, and husband Rob of Dowling Park, Florida, brothers Dennis Howland and wife Greta of Tallahassee, Florida, and Philip Howland and wife June of Montgomery, Alabama. She is also survived by her husband of 44 years, Marc Hoover of Altamonte Springs, Florida, and their children, Caitlin Elizabeth and Patrick Joseph of Altamonte Springs, Florida. Gail had four grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Sophia Lola, Liam Thomas, Benjamin Ace, and Daisy-Grace Margaret. She prayed every day for her family.

Gail and Marc attended Journey Christian Church in Apopka, Florida, and Gail volunteered for years with E.S.T.H.E.R. Single Mothers’ Outreach in Longwood, Florida. She loved serving alongside the other women of faith, helping meet the many needs of single-mother homes. .

Gail “Howland” was the daughter of eleven generations of sons who were direct descendants of John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley. John and Elizabeth sailed to America aboard the Mayflower ship with other pilgrims in the year 1620. They survived the first brutal winter and were married in Plymouth Plantation, Massachusetts. John and Elizabeth had ten children, and both survived until the age of 80 years of age and now have millions of descendants.

A memorial service celebrating Gail’s life will be held on Friday, February 20th, at 10:30 AM at Highland Funeral Home, 3329 East Semoran Blvd. Apopka, Florida. That will be followed by a graveside service in the Highland Memory Gardens. Family and friends are invited to gather as we honor Gail’s memory and share stories of the glorious life she lived for Jesus and the impact that she had on all those who knew her.

The family is asking that, instead of sending flowers or gifts, anyone who would like to honor Gail’s memory please donate to E.S.T.H.E.R. Single Mothers’ Outreach in Longwood, Florida. This is where Gail volunteered her time, and it was important to both Gail and Marc because of their sisterhood of service to single-mother families.
