Gary Guckenberger

March 13, 1957 — September 17, 2025

Gary Wayne Guckenberger affectionately known as “Gook” was born on March 13, 1957, to James and Mary Lou Guckenberger in New Kensington, PA. He moved to Orlando, FL with his family while still a young child.

Gary received his formal education in the Orange County Public School system. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army. He served his country as a medic for four years and was stationed in Korea and Kansas.

After he was discharged, he joined the Seminole County Fire Dept as an EMT. He loved his job! He was a real live Hero. He saved countless lives, including little kittens, during his career. It was during this time he had his only son, Joshua. He was the light of Gary’s life!

Gary was a silly, funny and generous person. He retired in 2013.

Gary was preceded in death by his father James Guckenberger and his son Joshua Guckenberger. He is survived by his mother Mary Lou Guckenberger, brother Ronald Guckenberger and wife Liz, Ronald’s children Dutch Lee, Blake, Giselle, his sister Sandy Spates and husband Joe, their children Tiffany and Julia.
