Gualberto Perez

February 10, 1928 — October 19, 2023

Altamonte Springs

Gualberto Perez, a simple, kindhearted, and compassionate man, has left a profound impact on the lives of many. Born on February 10, 1928, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Gualberto was a dedicated individual who built a family business called Per Gar Aluminum Works with his beloved wife, Norma Perez. Together, they embarked on a journey that spanned decades of hard work and perseverance.

In 1971, Gualberto and Norma moved to Altamonte Springs, FL, where Gualberto took on various roles as a jack of all trades. He fearlessly navigated the roads as a long-distance truck driver and also contributed his skills as a supervisor for the laundry department at Florida Hospital. Gualberto's dedication and work ethic were inspirational to those around him.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Gualberto was an active member of Sheeler Oaks Seventh-Day Adventist Church. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he wholeheartedly served in various capacities within the church community. One particular passion of his was writing poems that inspired fellow congregants.

Tragically, in June 2021, Gualberto received a diagnosis of Mesothelioma. Undeterred by this challenging news, he courageously chose to fight against the illness with unwavering determination. "I have a lot of fight left in me!" he declared. With incredible strength and resilience, Gualberto embarked on immunotherapy treatments that yielded promising results and granted him a new lease on life.

Unfortunately, on September 19, 2023, Gualberto was admitted to the hospital where he valiantly fought for an entire month until his passing on October 19th, 2023. In the midst of this heartbreaking loss, it is comforting to know that he has been called home by God.

Gualberto Perez leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and unwavering faith. He took great pride in living a full life and cherishing his retirement years. His spirit shone bright, even in the face of adversity, as he fought for the quality of his life and achieved remarkable success with immunotherapy.

Gualberto was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Perez and Herminia Cardona, his treasured wife, Norma “Mami” Perez and his beloved daughter, Ileana Castro.

Gualberto's memory will forever be treasured by his surviving family members, his daughter, Nannette Perez, and his son Gualberto "Wally" Perez. His grandchildren Nannette Castro, Mackenzie S. St. Croix, and Gabriella A. St. Croix also carry his memory in their hearts. He will be fondly remembered by great-grandchildren Gisella Gonzales, Tiffany M. Butzlaff, David J. Butzlaff. His great-great grandchildren Kelley F. Gonzales, Anthony C. Gonzales Jr., Aria G. Gonzales, Wyatt J. Butzlaff as well as countless other family members and friends whose lives he touched deeply.

A funeral service to honor the incredible life of Gualberto Perez will be held on October 25th at Sheeler Oaks Spanish SDA Church in Apopka, FL from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Following this service, a graveside gathering will take place on October 26th at Highland Funeral Home & Memory Gardens in Apopka from 10:00 AM.

Gualberto may no longer be with us physically; however, his memory will forever live on in our hearts. He taught us the values of perseverance, faith, and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on our lives.
