Joffery (Van) Van Camp, age 106, passed away peacefully on Feb 6, 2020.
He was born Oct 16, 1913 in Kalamazoo, MI to the late Harmon and Ellen Van Camp. Joffery married the late Dorothy Paulin on Nov 26, 1937-enjoying 68 years together.
Growing up in the Great Depression era, Joffery understood the value of hard work. He was a Senior Aircraft mechanic under the WW II Civil Service program at Kellogg Field in Battle Creek MI, Wright-Patterson in Dayton OH, and MacDill Field in Tampa Fl.
Joffery moved to Orlando in 1949 where he began a long career as a Sheet Metal Pattern maker in the heating and air conditioning business. His last job, at age 69, after a 6-month retirement, was with Rose Mechanical where he worked 22 years- finally retiring at age 91.
In the following years, Joffery enjoyed tending his citrus trees and vegetable gardens.
He is survived by his daughter Patsy, Orlando, his son Robert (Donna), TN, 2 granddaughters, Cheri Van Camp, and Amy (Bret) Mickel, 6 great-granddaughters, Staci, Stefani, Kelsi, Tifani, Sydney, and Abby, 6 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joffery was predeceased by his brothers Guthrie, Richard, Thane, and his sisters Donna, Nancy, and Naomi.
Funeral Services will be held Feb 13 at 1pm, at Highland Funeral Home with burial at the Highland Memory Gardens.
