John Parker Carskadon, 79, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, in Orlando, Florida.
Born on June 26, 1946, in Elkins, West Virginia, John was the son of Isaac Parker and Virginia Dale Carskadon, both of whom predeceased him. He was the youngest of two children and was also preceded in death by his sister, Dale Ann Doran.
John spent most of his life in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he met and married Elizabeth Zearbaugh in 1966. Together, they built a life working in local factories and raising their daughter, Kimberly Carskadon Oldham.
In 1999, John and Elizabeth moved to Florida to be closer to their grandchildren. Family was central to John’s life, and he cherished time spent with his grandsons, Parker Robert Oldham and Ryan Thomas Oldham. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Julia Elizabeth Oldham.
A proud disabled veteran of the Vietnam War, John was awarded two Purple Hearts for injuries sustained in service to his country. He had a lifelong passion for collecting guns and knives, and his love for animals was evident to all who knew him. He is also survived by his faithful Plott hound, Bud.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Volusia County Humane Society in John’s memory.
