Jorge Rivera

October 3, 1933 — December 19, 2023

Jorge Rivera, a dedicated psychiatric nurse and a beloved member of his community, passed away on December 19th, 2023, in Casselberry, Florida. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren at the time of his passing. Born on October 3rd, 1933, in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico, Jorge lived a life filled with love, compassion, and laughter.

Jorge dedicated his entire career to serving others as a psychiatric nurse. His genuine care for his patients was evident in every interaction he had. Jorge approached each day with a kind heart and a willingness to help those in need. He truly made a difference in the lives of many through his profession.

Outside of work, Jorge was a committed Seventh-day Adventist who had a strong faith in the Lord. His spirituality guided him throughout his life and provided him with strength and solace during difficult times. Jorge's unwavering love for God was an inspiration to all who knew him.

One of Jorge's defining characteristics was his wicked sense of humor. No matter the situation, he always found a way to bring laughter into the room. His quick wit and clever jokes brought joy to those around him and created unforgettable memories. It was impossible not to be uplifted by his infectious laughter.

In his free time, Jorge was an avid baseball fan. He initially rooted for the New York Mets before transitioning to supporting the Boston Red Sox later in life. As a young man, he seized every opportunity to play softball with family and friends. Baseball brought him joy and served as an avenue for building connections with loved ones.

Jorge also took great pleasure in playing dominoes. With cunning strategies and quick thinking, he could always come out on top at every game. His talent created lively gatherings filled with friendly competition and endless laughter. These moments became treasured memories that will forever be cherished by those who had the pleasure of playing alongside him.

Living on a lake provided Jorge with the perfect backdrop to pursue his passion for boating and fishing. He found tranquility while being out on the water, surrounded by nature's beauty. These were the moments when he felt truly at peace, appreciating the wonders of the world around him.

Jorge will be deeply missed by his loved ones. He is survived by his devoted wife, Porfiria Mercado Rivera, and their four children: Maritza Rivera Babcock, Rolando Rivera, Abdiel Rivera, and Victor Luis Rivera. In addition to his children, Jorge leaves behind five adoring grandchildren: Carmen Maurer, Megan McCoy, Rolando Luis Rivera, Jillian Nicole Rivera, and Tatiana Lizette Babcock. His legacy continues through his cherished great-grandchildren: Aaliyah, Brendan, Carson, Emiliona, Kellan, Kaleb, Leo, and Isobel.

Jorge was preceded in death by his father Victorino Rivera and mother Cruz Maria Soto. Although he is no longer with us physically, his spirit will forever be present in the memories shared by all those whose lives he touched.
