Jose Velez

Jose (Tony) Antonio Velez-Bonet, age 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Advent Health Hospital in Orlando. He was born October 21, 1943, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, to Marcelo Velez and Margarita Bonet. He married Maria DeJesus on June 2, 1962, in New York City. He last worked as a handyman with Majestic Towers in NYC, displaying a wonderful knack for fixing things. Jose truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; enjoying the outdoors and spending time with family especially his grandchildren whom he adored. Jose had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He is survived by his wife, Maria, his children Jose, Marcelo and Marilyn; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Family, friends, and others whose lives Jose touched are invited to the HIGHLAND FUNERAL HOME, 3329 East Semoran Blvd, Apopka, Fl., from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat. Burial will follow at HIGHLAND MEMORY GARDENS.
