Laura Jean (Nix, formerly Kline) Campbell, 63, of Ocoee, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, after a recent and devastating terminal diagnosis.
Laura-"Laurie" to everyone who knew and loved her-was born on July 19, 1962, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the youngest of three children. In her youth, Laurie had a deep love for animals, especially horses, and even kept pet raccoons.
Her life was marked by resilience, love, and devotion to family. After an early marriage and the birth of her daughter, she faced hardship with determination and built a life as a hardworking single mother. She later married again and shared many happy years with her husband until his passing.
In her later years, she cherished her role as a grandmother, remained an active and dedicated member of AA, and found great joy in caring for her beloved dog and backyard chickens.
Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply-especially her grandchildren-and in the strength, compassion, and hope she shared through her journey in recovery, as well as the simple happiness she found in caring for her animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Campbell, and her brother, Jeff Nix.
She is survived by her daughter, Danielle Sizemore (husband Danny); her three grandchildren; her sister, Susan Cockcroft (husband Darrell); and her beloved nieces.
Through every chapter of her life, Laurie showed a quiet strength and a determination to keep moving forward.
Laurie will be remembered for her strength, her humor, and the love she shared with family, friends, and every animal she cared for.
A private celebration of life will be held, honoring Laurie's memory with love and laughter.

Remington’s Story
One of Mom’s greatest joys was her beloved German Shepherd, Remington Steel, a beautiful silver sable she raised from a puppy. Remington came from Ruskin House of Shepherds and quickly became part of Mom’s daily life.
When Mom received her terminal diagnosis, she made the loving decision to return Remington to his breeder, knowing he would always be protected and cared for. The breeder has a lifelong open-door policy, ensuring every dog has a home, helping keep more dogs out of shelters.
Remington is now thriving there and has become part of their breeding program. In a beautiful moment of synchronicity, two of his puppies were born just hours before Laurie passed away. Their arrival serves as a gentle reminder that life continues beyond loss — that endings and beginnings are forever intertwined, and that the spirit of what and who we love does not fade, but is carried forward in new ways.
Knowing that a part of Remington — and the joy he brought Mom — will live on through future litters brings our family comfort.
