Luis Vergara

Our beloved Spouse, Son, Father, and Brother Luis Eduardo, 89, passed away on December 21, 2025. Memorial donations may be made in Luis' name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Luis came to this country at the age of 19 and then enlisted in the US Air Force for six years. After leaving the air force, he went on to become a successful insurance agent with Mutual of New York and later became a successful commercial real estate agent and land developer as a member of the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member).

He married his wife, Mary Virginia Gabler, in Washington, DC. They were married 60 years and during those happy years, they had five children: Marco Antonio (Luz Elena Betancourt), Gina María (Michael Helms), Lisa Renata (Greg Pappanastos), Andrea Francesca (Nathan Cook), and Angela Silviana Vergara (Phillip Eslund).

His faith was the most important thing to him. He loved to read and study the Bible and the history of the world, classical music, and poetry. He was devoted to his family and grandchildren. In his younger years, he had Paso Fino horses which he trained. In retirement in his 80s, garden plants and potted flowers gave him joy along with the singing of birds in our little patio.
