Mariano "Cuqui" Hernandez of Orlando, FL. (formerly of Chelsea, MA.) escaped this realm on April 23rd, 2021 entering the kingdom of paradise, rejoining his loved ones.
Mariano was the youngest of six born to the late Juan Hernandez and Maria (Rodriguez) Hernandez on July 22, 1929 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. He made his way to Massachusetts in his 20's, where he would eventually marry his best friend and love of his life, Beatrice (Melito) Hernandez on January 28th, 1958.
Cuqui's daily routine involved reading the newspaper, working on projects around his home, and watching the Boston Red Sox play. He loved listening to music and enjoyed watching the birds outside his front kitchen window, but he especially loved spending time with his family. He had the kind of giving heart that people remembered after spending time with him. His indomitable spirit encouraged his family and friends to persist in the face of many struggles. He was joy and will be missed by many.
Cuqui is survived by his children and sons/daughter-in-law; Debra Hernandez and Andres (Roberto) Faydel of Apopka, FL., Linda and Heriberto Perez of Orlando, FL., Mariano Jr and Marisol Hernandez of Saugus, MA., Vincent Hernandez of Boston, MA., Anna Hernandez of Lynn, MA., Teresa Hernandez of Orlando, FL., and bonus daughter (granddaughter that he and Beatrice raised as their own) Kristina Velazquez of Sartell, MN., sister Haydee De Jesus of Deltona, FL., sister-in-law Gloria Bianchi Hernandez of Jayuya, Puerto Rico, and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
Cuqui was preceded in death by his late wife Beatrice Hernandez, parents Juan and Maria Hernandez, son Mark Hernandez, brothers Jose and Antonio Hernandez, and sisters Guillermina and Maria Hernandez.
In all, Mariano was a hard-working man of great strength and love that was shared with everyone who knew him. A wonderful man who adored and took beautiful care of his family. Cuqui smiled through his 91 years on Earth and served others beautifully.
The Hernandez family would like to thank the FL. Advent Health Hospital for their extraordinary care in every season of Cuqui and BB's journey, and the Highland Funeral Home for their special care of both after their death and in their burial. You are the hands and feet of Jesus and we are forever grateful for your services.
