Marion Lorraine Mathis, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 12, 2023, at Advent Hospital in Apopka, Florida. She was born on September 11, 1937, in Winter Park, Florida to Fred Watson and Beulah Blume.

 

Marion's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and kind-hearted nature. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord and found great joy in praying with the congregation and attending bible study at Victory Baptist Church in Ocoee. Her love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life.

 

One of Marion's proudest accomplishments was her talent for sewing. She poured her heart and soul into creating beautiful dresses for her granddaughters on special occasions. Seeing them twirl around in their handmade dresses brought a sparkle to Marion's eyes. Not only did she sew dresses, but Marion also crafted dolls and clothing for her granddaughters, showcasing her creativity and dedication as a loving grandmother. She was also an avid words search fan.

 

Marion's warm and compassionate personality touched the lives of all who knew her. She was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting word to those in need. Her kindness radiated from within and made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with her.

 

In addition to being survived by countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing Marion, she is also survived by her children Will Mathis, Robert Mathis, and Teresa Mathis Pearson. Will's wife Lee Ann Mathis provided unwavering support to Marion throughout her life journey. Marion's daughter Debra Ann Mathis Turner preceded her in death, along with Marion's 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

 

Marion's love extended to the next generation as well. Her granddaughters Ashlee O'Brien, Brittany Mathis Warren, Amina Mathis and Christina Wilson held a special place in her heart. Ashlee's husband Andy O'Brien and Brittany's husband Christopher Warren were welcomed into the family with open arms. Marion's granddaughters bought immense joy to her life, reminding her of the beauty and innocence in the world.

 

The love continued to grow through Marion's great-grandchildren, Brecon, Dastan, Doug and John Jr., who lit up her life with their laughter and boundless energy. Marion cherished every moment spent with them and treasured the memories they created together. She is also Survived by her brother Kenneth Blume and his wife, Jessica.

 

Marion's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her faith will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering commitment to her family and her unwavering faith in the Lord will continue to inspire and guide us through difficult times.

 

Her presence may no longer grace our lives, but Marion Lorraine Mathis will forever be remembered as a pillar of strength and a shining example of love. As we say our goodbyes, let us celebrate her life, cherishing the memories we shared with her. May she find eternal peace in God's loving embrace.
