Patricia Beth Gatley

Patricia Beth Gatley, lovingly known as Pat, passed away June 19, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of creativity, faith, and family. Pat was born in Denver, CO in September of 1934. She was the eldest of four children, and her family later settled in Dallas, TX where she spent her formative years. Pat’s true calling was art. She attended the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California, earning a prestigious National Scholastic Gold Key scholarship. While at ArtCenter, Pat met the love of her life, Eric Gatley. They wed in 1960 and shared nearly 55 years of marriage, building a life grounded in faith, love, creativity, and partnership. They started their family in California before relocating to Florida with the opening of Walt Disney World in 1971. Together, Pat and Eric collaborated on myriad art projects large and small. Her work ranged from functional pottery such as bowls and dishes to wind chimes and candle holders, always reflecting her unique artistic vision. One of her most notable projects was a large-scale (12’x24’) earthenware pottery installation commissioned by Disney for one of their conference centers. The project required a full year of dedication, innovation, and collaboration. Pat’s creativity was embedded into daily life. Her artistic expression extended far beyond pottery and often celebrated her faith and favorite scriptures. She painted, sketched, made paper, printed silk screens, sewed clothing, quilted, and more. Upon retiring, Pat and Eric moved to Friday Harbor, WA where they wove themselves into the arts community and supported their church. Pat’s entire family is grateful for her 91 years. She will be dearly missed. She leaves behind her children and their spouses: Beth (Jason) Thomas, Alec (Stephanie) Gatley, and Tamara (Steve) Steffy along with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eric Gatley and her brother Buz (Kay) Clarkson and she is survived by her sister Sue (Jim Ed) Willman and her brother Steve (Cathy) Clarkson along with her many nieces and nephews.
