Peter King Bourbeau, 94, passed on July 23, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Leyla Bourbeau (August 20, 1933 - April 22, 2022) who preceded him in death earlier this year. Peter now joins her in eternal life. They were married for 54 years. Peter was born to Katherine and Peter C. Bourbeau on April 2, 1928, in Boston, MA. He is survived in loving memory by his three children: Adriana Melone, Peter J. Bourbeau, and Christina (Tina) Bourbeau; four grandchildren: Marin and Aiden Melone, and Cate and Clare Bourbeau, as well as four grandpups: Sweetpea, Henry, Flicker & Mabel.
Peter retired in Florida after a long and distinguished career in finance. He will be dearly remembered for his ardent love of travel, oceans and lakes, amazing food and big family gatherings- all passions which have been gratefully inherited and continued by his children and grandchildren. Peter could tell remarkable stories, with a wry sense of humor and a gleam in his eye. His passport alone was but one testament to his amazing life, having traveled to places as far flung as Istanbul, Beirut, Tehran, Johannesburg and, most importantly, Brazil. He first set eyes on Leyla in Peoria, IL and then not again until ten years later in São Paulo. And the rest, as they say, was history. May his love, life, and memory live on.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, 10:00 am. at Highland Funeral Home, 3329 E. Semoran Blvd., Apopka, FL 32703.
