Rebecca (Becky) Jane Savill, 82, of Winter Park, FL passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024. Becky was born to Florence Alberta Nagel Damron and William King Damron on January 26, 1942, and was the oldest of three children, all growing up in North Manchester, IN. Becky was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother.
Becky was preceded in death by her father Wiliam K. Damron, her mother, Florence N. Damron, and her husband Albert Savill. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Savill Wiseman, son-in-law Simon Wiseman, Esq., grandson Ethan Alexander Wiseman, sister Mary( Murph)Nagel Damon, and brother, Dr. James Robert Damron (wife Dr. Barbara Damron; children Allie Damron and Matt Damron Holmes).
Becky attended Chester School in North Manchester for elementary school and graduated from Manchester High School 1960. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1964, majoring in Television/Radio/Film. After college, Becky went to work at a television station in Indianapolis, Indiana. Becky was the host of “Rebecca at Sunnybrook Farm” at the TV station and frequently did the weather reports. She met Albert Savill while working at that station and they married in 1970. She and Al had their beloved daughter, Kelly, in 1975. Becky also worked for the Indianapolis Capitals Football Team, which was owned by her husband, Al.
Becky and Al moved to Longwood, FL in1979, where they had a full and robust life. After Al’s passing, she moved closer to Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, in 1998. Becky loved her work as the Art Education Director at the Cornell Museum at Rollins College until her retirement in 2007. Becky earned her Master’s Degree in Art History from Rollins College in 1997. Becky was a voracious reader, an expert gardener, and a world traveler. She visited Florence, Italy, to enrich her art education, and traveled extensively with Al, Kelly, and many family members. Becky was dedicated to and loved her family wholeheartedly. She was adored and beloved by everyone who met her. Everyone who knew Becky will miss her presence. She will leave a special place in the hearts of all of those who were honored to call her colleague, friend, and family. As Ralph Waldo Emersons aid, “It is not the length of life but the depth of life.” Becky leaves behind a legacy of fond memories that will be cherished by many.
