Roberto Davila - Aponte

July 9, 1955 — June 15, 2022

Fort Pierce, FL.

Roberto (Rob) Luis Davila-Aponte quietly passed June 15, 2022 after having a stroke. He was 66 years old, born July 9, 1955 in Lincoln Nebraska to Luis and Mary Frances Davila-Aponte. He is the first of seven children. His siblings are Sheila Mitchell (husband Wayne Mitchell), Vince Davila-Aponte (wife Nancy), Chris Davila-Aponte (wife Mary Beth), Jenny Davila-Aponte (husband Tom Jones), Dave Davila-Aponte (partner Beth Usher), and Cathy Davila-Aponte. He has two daughters, Carmen Davila-Trusso and Louisa Rushing and four grandchildren. He has many nieces and nephews. Rob has a bachelor of science degree in history from Wright State and worked in the mental health industry until his retirement in 2016.

Rob had a passion for history, military board gaming, lead figurines, and handmade Persian and Indian carpets. Rob loved the game of chess and was a member of high school and college teams. Rob was a lifeguard in high school. He appreciated fine foods and drink and had very eclectic tastes in music ranging from opera to punk rock. He was a quiet man who cherished traditions and family gatherings. He decorated the family Christmas tree yearly, working days to achieve a perfect balance of rich colors and textures that we all truly enjoyed.

Rob was a cat guy and had several over the years. We all remember one cat he had "Fat Bosley" who he set pictures in his Christmas cards to us. He also named our cats based on their appearance, Big Gray Kitty, MEOW kitty, Big &Fat Kitty, and Road Kill (because the way the cat sprawled belly up on the floor, not for any other unfortunate reason) to name a few. He loved the cats and they in turn, loved him.

He liked unique cars, he had a couple of MG midgets when he was young and older Mercedes. Jenny remembers riding in the MG, top down, laughing and getting mint ice cream.

When Rob moved out of the house, Chris got his room. He left a cool white jacket with a roach clip and roach in the pocket, sticks and seeds in the floor vent, 4 playboy magazines, and his Yankees cap. Chris started wearing that cap and the Yankees got real good so they became his second favorite team behind the Reds. Many years later when we were camping, watching the Yankees in the playoffs, we asked him if he was still a Yankees fan. He said "What?" Like we were talking crazy. Chris reminded him of the cap. He thought about it and said, "I liked them back in the 60's and early 70's when they were bad, but not really now. Even then I really didn't care that much about baseball, I just liked the hat." Chris still likes the Yankees and will be thinking of Rob when they play in the playoffs this season.

"Back in 1977 I met Rob Davila. We worked at the airport together..He wore black tee shirts, jeans and combat boots..Had a staple in his pierced ear..We would spend time waiting to clean out a plane coming in, and talk about music..He asked me if I'd heard the Sex Pistols, I had not..One day I gave him a ride home, had a gram of hash, and asked to hear some Sex Pistols..He said..'ya might not like it..'. I told him..'I'll let ya know'..That day Rob played, the Pistols, Ramones, and maybe the Dead Boys..of course it blew me away! Changed my life..Soon I was able to meet up with Bruce Stuckey Joel Agne and Mark Patterson, and form, Toxic Reasons..When we wrote our first song, Warhero, we took guitars over to Robs to see what he thought? He said...'play it faster' We did.." Ed Pittman, Toxic Reasons
