Sandra Jordan

December 25, 1942 — October 25, 2025

Winter Park

Sandra Nyokov Jordan was born Christmas day, 1942, to Henry Brown Bostwick and Bonnie Ruth Bostwick in Columbus, GA while her father served in the Army at Ft. Benning.

They soon moved to Florida and before long her father built their home on Lockhart where she grew up. She attended Lockhart Baptist Church with friends and loved Vacation Bible School. Also, Lockhart Elementary, Robert E. lee Jr. High School and Edgewater High graduating senior at Evens High School.

Sandy began singing with her father at an early age, wherever there was a piano. She was given piano lessons and then a clarinet in Jr. high and high school. Private lessons helped her to play 1st chair in the Edgewater Band.

As a matter of fact, she met her future husband when a band concert was played at Apoka High School where he attended. Their marriage lasted 42 years and they had 2 children, Jenny and Bryan.

Sandy attended a number of churches throughout her life. As well as Billy Graham Crusades and gospel sings with her family.

At the age of 17, she gave her life to Christ Jesus and was baptized. Her faith grew as she continued with Bible study classes and eventually began serving:

 - Teaching GA girls, nursery coordinator and of course the choir. She also was a volunteer at Vacation Bible School.

 - She spent many years at a small vibrant maranatha fellowship church and began singing in the choir and in charge of duets and trios. She became Deaconess Chairman, also Missionary Chairman.

Sandy moved to Aloma Church in 2012 and joined their choir and loved the more challenging music of the current generation. She joined the Joy Class Finding Fellowship with an older group of ladies and soon became Treasurer serving until her recent illness.

Sandy had an amazing and successful career as an Executive Secretary, starting with a prominent CPA firm and eventually at the Orlando Sentinel for 29 years as Executive Secretary to the CFO and Director of Finance.

She joined a professional secretary’s group, IAAP, earning the title of “Certified Professional Secretary”, again serving on most committees as well as President, allowing her to travel across our state of Florida and country attending many conferences.

Following retirement in 2008, Sandy served 7 years teaching 4th graders with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) instilling Bible lessons, scripture memorization, as well as values so needed in our youth today.

Around 2012, Sandy joined the Messiah Choral Society of Orlando under Director John Sinclair of Rollins College and Bach Festival. A brand-new adventure in singing and loved the long weekly hours of practice each year. Recently performing at the Steinmetz Theatre singing with magnificent Handel’s “Messiah”.

In 2019, Sandy moved to Westminster Winter Park and soon joined its choir and their “ringers” that practiced weekly, playing often in Worship Services and Special Concerts. Life was very good enjoying activities and making lifelong friends until suddenly pain symptoms quickly developed to a diagnosis of stage 4 cancer was given. Total shock for her and her children that quickly gathered to decide her plan of care.

While Sandy in Faith is quite strong and has guided her through many storms in life, the news of stage 4 cancer is perhaps the greatest test of Faith she has had to face. Her Faith has never faded and has remained even stronger now. Realizing that very soon she will pass from this life into Heaven for eternity.

Life was quite good growing up as an only child. Her mother worked, so in summers she would send Sandy to stay several weeks at a time with her aunts in Tampa and Jacksonville, allowing her to bond well with cousins and remained close through the years. Especially cousin Wanda DuVall, a strong Christian was more like a sister to her as they shared life experiences and Faith in their Lord.

Sandy became a stay-at-home mom for 8 wonderful years after Jenny and Bryon were born. Though finances were tough, they would often take day trips to the beach with fried chicken, Kool-Aid or peanut butter sandwiches. Birthday parties were different then, yet she always baked a special cake unlike those from Publix today.

She became a Brownie Leader and Bryan was the only boy Brownie!

Years later the family spent many memorable and adventurous summers in North Carolina around Highland and Cashiers.

Since Sandy was an only child, she took care of her parents alone during the end of their lives.

Later when a neighbor lady (totally alone, no family or children), Sandy looked after her daily for 3 years. She became Power of Attorney and Health Care Surrogate for a dying single friend for almost 10 years answering every phone call attending every doctor appointment that became more demanding through her last few years. Yet Faithful, being with her when God called her home.

Sandy is survived by her son, Bryan, her daughter Jenny and her two granddaughters, Morgan and Kasey.
