Sonora Martinez

Sonora Martinez, 82, passed away Monday October 21, 2019 peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born September 3, 1937 to the late America Castillo and Arturo Aristy in Bani, Dominican Republic. She was the youngest of 12 siblings.

Sonora married her late husband Arcadio Martinez November 1, 1973 and moved from the Dominican Republic to Springfield, Massachusetts. During her time in Springfield, she worked as a foster parent for Social Services. On March 26, 1986 Sonora welcomed her son Moises Martinez into the world.

In 1991 Sonora moved to Florida to be closer to her family.

Sonora is survived by her son Moises Martinez, daughter in law Danielle Martinez, grandchildren, Tyler Cramer and Isabella Martinez, nieces Lourdes, Margarita, Magaly, nephew Feliz, and her sister Francia, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Sonora enjoyed fishing, dancing, going to her flea markets every Wednesday and Saturday, but she was happiest when spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed, but she is now at peace. Her family finds great comfort knowing she is in the arms of the Lord.
