In Loving Memory of Sula Marcena Paitaris May 22, 1981 – October 12, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep love, we celebrate the beautiful life of Sula Marcena Paitaris, who passed away at the age of 44 on October 12, 2025. Born on May 22, 1981, Sula grew up with a strong sense of curiosity, courage, and compassion that she carried with her throughout her life. She made her home in DeBary, Florida, but her adventurous spirit touched places and people all across the world.
Sula was the beloved daughter of Nancy and Tony Paitaris, and the cherished sister of Melanie Woodward, Tony Paitaris, and Katina Deemer. She adored her nieces and nephews—Athena, Niko, Mia, Olivia, and Rocco—and filled their lives with laughter, wisdom, and love.
A woman of both intellect and heart, Sula earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and devoted her career to helping others. She worked at Baystate Hospital in Massachusetts, Stanford Hospital in California, and later at a clinic in Hawaii, where her skill, compassion, and humor touched countless lives. Her patients and colleagues alike remember her as someone who brought both competence, comfort, and lighthearted energy.
Sula’s passions painted the story of her life. She loved yoga, her beloved dog Homer, and her birds—Agape, Mimi and Miss P—who she adored and considered them her “children.” She found peace in hiking, happiness in cooking and sharing good food, and excitement in traveling, especially her solo backpacking adventures across Europe. She had a soft spot for fast motorcycles, old trucks, and Cummins diesel engines, a combination that perfectly captured her blend of grit and grace.
Those who knew Sula will remember her enthusiasm for learning and her endless curiosity about the world—nature, people, animals, science, spirituality and health. She was famous for her “random facts of the day,” a reflection of her love for knowledge and her playful spirit. But above all, Sula will be remembered for her genuine heart. She was the kind of person you could be completely yourself with—someone you could confide in and know your secrets were safe. Her contagious snorting laugh, her feisty and edgy humor, her genuine personality, her stubbornness, and her fierce independence made her unforgettable.
Sula lived boldly, loved deeply, and never settled for anything less than what she truly wanted. Her adventurous spirit, warm heart, and authenticity are her legacy—one that will continue to inspire everyone lucky enough to have known her.
Her family and friends will forever carry her in their hearts, grateful for the light she brought into their lives. Eternal be her memory, may her memory be eternal
