Wilfredo Colon

Wilfredo (Jocko) Colon was born on May 20, 1945, in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, to Maria Luisa Rubildo and Daniel Colón. He came to the United States as a young boy, growing up in the neighborhoods of Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York. It was there that he met the love of his life, Adelaide “Dolly” Colón. Together, they built a marriage of over 50 years, raising three sons - Keith, Omar, and Ryan-rooted in love, strength, and devotion.

Jocko proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and after being honorably discharged, he went on to serve the City of New York as a Corrections Officer. He dedicated 20 years to that role before retiring. Following his retirement from corrections, Jocko worked for the United States Postal Service for approximately two years before relocating to Florida. Never one to sit still for long, he continued working in Florida, first with UPS for a few years and later returning briefly to the United States Postal Service before fully retiring.

He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and godfather. His grandchildren absolutely adored him, and his presence brought joy and laughter to every family gathering. Jocko was the kind of man who never missed a moment to show up for his family, his friends, and his community.

Jocko is survived by his loving wife Dolly, sons Keith, Omar (Nifda), and Ryan, his cherished grandchildren, his sister Haydee, and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria Luisa and Daniel, and his beloved sister, Aida Luz.
