William Quilliam

September 2, 1962 — July 5, 2025

William C Quilliam, PhD, passed away July 5th, 2025 in Lake Wales, Florida. He was called Will by family, friends, and colleagues. Will's late mother and father were Ralph W and Myrna R and he was born in Daviess County, Indiana. He had a special place in his heart for his hometown of Washington, Indiana.

Will was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Professor of Accounting at Florida Southern College since 2010. He also taught accounting at the University of South Florida for 17 years. He had a long record of scholarship, with publications in professional journals from 1992-2021. He received his Bachelor and Master's Degrees from the University of Central Florida and his PhD from the University of Florida.

Will was a long-standing member of the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA). He was a Trustee since 2014 and was part of the Executive Committee of the FICPA's Scholarship Foundation. He was the Foundation Board of Trustees' Chair from 2021-2022. He received the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award and the Outstanding Service Presidential Award from the FICPA in 2011. In 2006, he received the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award from the University of South Florida.

During the almost two years he faced several debilitating health issues, he felt gratitude and a desire to acknowledge the following individuals. These include his brother Shannon Rodgers, sister-in-law Denise and their family for their love; Brenda Hubbard for her time and support; Gary and Lynn Clements for their constant prayers and friendship; Dean Webber, Paula Monte and the Faculty and Staff at Florida Southern College for their support and prayers; and his adoptive family members and friends Orlando Morales, Elizabeth McNulty, Noema (Amy) Santos and her daughters Ada Valdes and Julie Santos who took over the daily roles of caretaker and advocate, and were at his side during the wins and the defeats. Rest in Peace dear brother, friend, and colleague.
