William Schupfer

William George Schupfer, 83, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025; with his loving family by his side.

Bill was born in Savannah, Ga. on March 7, 1942. His life's journey began as a "military brat". He was the oldest of four children and traveled the US with his family; seeing and experiencing so much of what the country has to offer. His family consisted of his father: Raymond, his mother Irene, brothers Robert and George, and sister Mary Ann.

He began his own military career, joining the Air Force on June 27, 1960 lasting through March of 1964 where he would gain the knowledge required for his lifelong career in telecommunications. He worked for 38 years at AT&T. It was at this job where he would meet his future wife (through her brother, his coworker) Ann Carole Guthrie, on September 11, 1964. They would marry almost exactly 2 years later on September 17, 1966. Following the marriage the two would spend the next 11 years enjoying any free time together traveling the south east in their camper.

On January 25, 1977 the couple would welcome their first daughter, Alissa Courtney Schupfer. They welcomed their second child, Cora Lea Schupfer on January 13, 1979. Bill was overjoyed to welcome his granddaughter, Kayla Ann Schupfer on October 26. He was equally thrilled to become a great grandfather to Britallia on April 17th. While he was proud of his long business career, nothing could compare to the pride and joy he found as a grandfather and great grandfather.

Upon retiring from AT&T he became a volunteer first at his granddaughters elementary school. He would earn Volunteer of the Year at Clay Springs Elementary. He then continued his volunteering at both Apopka and Evans High School. In this volunteer role he would work alongside his wife, assisting as a tutor and teaching assistant, mentoring hundreds of students over many years. This would again earn him the award of Volunteer of the Year from Evans High School, this time two years running.

Upon his wife's retirement the couple would eventually move to New Smyrna Beach where Bill loved sitting on the upstairs balcony enjoying the sunshine, view, shuttle and rocket launches from the cape, and sunsets. He loved grilling on his Weber Kettle. A short walk from their home at the beach is a bench where Bill and his wife would enjoy watching the ocean.

Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, hard work, and loyalty.
