Angel Delgado

November 11, 1941 — September 19, 2021

Apopka, FL.

This is a brief but incredible story of our Dad and husband, Angel Luis Delgado. Daddy, or how his kids Nydia, Evelyn, Luis, and David would call him "Papi," was a wonderful man who was loved, treasured, and cherished. Our "Abuelo," as he liked to be called by his grandchildren, and "Viejo," as he was called by his wife of 57 years Elvira (Mom), was an amazing husband, Dad, brother, and a joker at heart, like no other person, can be.

Dad's story starts on a well-known holiday, Veterans Day, November 11, 1941, as the oldest child to Regulina and Angel Manuel. He was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. When Dad was a young boy, he enjoyed the beautiful Puertorican beaches. He was passionate about riding his bike to the point where he landed his first job as a "Paperboy." We must mention the love he had for ice cream, cheesecake, Snickers, and sugar cane. When he was a teenager, he moved with his brothers Roberto, Jose Manuel, Reinaldo, and mother to Chicago, Illinois. During his Crane High School years in Chicago, Dad proudly joined the ROTC, where he was commemorated as Lieutenant Captain. Of all the people he touched, both knowing and unknowing, his proudest achievement in life was marrying his sweetheart on February 22, 1964.

In the mid -'70s Dad joined UPS as a Regional Sales Representative, where he earned several awards for "Sales Man of the Year." Later during the mid-'80s, he moved back with his family to his loving land of Puerto Rico, where he had an opportunity to be closer to his two brothers and his mother. Dad built his first business, "Action Video," a video club where he rented VHS movies to customers. During the mid-90's Dad decided to move to Florida and build his second business, the famous "Township Liquor Store" in Longwood, Florida. Dad managed the store for over eight years until he retired in 1998.

After retirement, Dad watched movies, took care of grandkids, and traveled with family. Dad will be remembered as the life of the party and a jokester. His funny debates on whatever the topic of conversation was always unforgettable. On September 19, 2021, Dad became a real angel when he transitioned peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He ensured that his final goodbye was completely extraordinary for us.
