Esther Miller

September 20, 1926 — July 24, 2021

Orange City

Esther H Miller, 94, passed away on July 24, 2021 in Orange City, FL. Born to the Hershey family of Lancaster County in Pennsylvania, Esther grew up as the youngest of 3 sisters. After graduating from Penn State University in 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, Harry Miller, who had returned from his US Naval service overseas at the end of WWII.

The Lord blessed them with 2 children, David and Sheila, while living in Culvers Lake, New Jersey. The Navy transferred them to Norfolk, Virginia and eventually overseas. Esther enjoyed her role as military wife and embraced as great adventures living in London, England; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; and Naples, Italy. She thrived on meeting new people through church fellowship and delighted in exploring new places and activities.

Harry and Esther retired to Florida after 38 years of Naval service and made First Baptist of Orlando their church home where they served as volunteers for more than 20 years. They placed high value on spending time studying the Bible and on growing in their walk with the Lord through devotion to church and family.

This love for people would be one of Esther's lasting legacies. Her radiant smile, welcoming charm, and generosity of spirit would endear her to so many through the years. Her family eventually extended to 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and cherished nieces and nephews.

In 2016, Esther lost the love of her life after 68 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death were her son David and 2 sisters, Eleanor Streeter and Anna Jean Gogel. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila M. Adams and husband Gerald C. Adams and her daughter-in-law, Beverly R. Miller.

Any shared memories and reflections offered on this memorial page would be a great comfort to those who will miss her so much.
