George Moise

September 14, 1935 — July 16, 2022

Minneola, FL

George Moise was Born in Jean-Rabel, Haiti. He was born on September 14,1935 to Marina Dorsainvil Moise and Jean-Baptise Moise.

Having lost both parents and an older brother by the time he was seven years old, dad was introduced to the harsh realities of poverty early. Lacking the necessary resources to care for him, his older brother Dieuseul decided to turn him over to his godmother in Baie-de-Henne, where he was brought up.

The folks' dad was entrusted with raising him, did not enroll him in school; in true George fashion, he secretly enrolled himself at night school. Dad managed to pay his school fees until he completed the sixth grade, and when his foster parents found out, they kicked him out.

Forced into adulthood, dad moved to Bombardopolis, an adjacent municipality, and entered the Chabon (wood charcoal) business, where he flourished. In Bombardopolis, dad met our mother, Sylvana Noël with whom he built a significant and lifelong family.

Although our parents were in a better financial position, considering the poverty they faced, they would make a decision that would be transformative for the entire family. Our mother insisted that dad or herself immigrate to the united because she estimated that eventually, they would not be able to provide their children with a better life, especially with the political turmoil Haïti was facing. Dad did not want to leave Haiti, but our mother insisted. So he made the bold move and left Haiti in July 1981.

Arriving in the United States, Dad would enroll himself in adult school until he completed his General education diploma. And then attended El Camino College in Los Angeles. After that, he worked all his career for the LAX Airport as a transportation Attendant, first and subsequently as a supervisor.

Concurrently he ran a very successful carpet cleaning business in the Los Angeles/Inglewood area. Dad worked hard to set goals and sound examples for us all his life. He took care of his family. He was selfless. His children's education was essential to him. He always said his most significant accomplishment was to see all his children succeed in whatever they each would undertake.

Our dad loved his family. He took great care of us. He loved his grandchildren. We all love him, and we will miss him forever. And we want to thank all of you for being here with us to lay him to rest.
