Harry Whittaker

Harry Morgan Whittaker, Born October 8, 1935, at Orlando General Hospital (ORMC) Passed away peacefully, June 11, 2021. Harry lived in Orlando his entire life. He attended Marks Street Elementary School, Princeton Elementary, Memorial Jr. High, Orlando High School and Graduated from the 2nd class of Edgewater High School, attended the University of Florida for 2years, Graduated from Florida Southern College 1961. While in college, he worked summers as a fire fighter in Missoula, Montana and as a farm superintendent for DelMonte Foods in Mendota,Ill.  Following college he worked as a Nursery Manager in Haines City Fl., Nursery Supervisor in Orlando,  & then had a 45+years career as Supervisor for The Citrus Crops Estimates Forecast Team in Orlando.

Following college, as a Life Loyal Sigma Chi Fraternity member, Harry worked with a group of University of Central Florida freshmen & sophomore’s trying to start a chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity on the UCF campus. With a tremendous amount of help from Joe Hartman, the two achieved success and the group got a Sigma Chi Chapter for the UCF Campus in 2 years. Harry was also President of the Orlando Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter.

Harry also spent time following college racing limited sportsman stock cars in the Orlando, Barberville & Jacksonville short tracks.

He was President of the Orlando Bachelors Club at which time he met and married Sandi Boyd of Winter Haven. They had three children, Wendee, Jeff & Cris. All 3 are college grads working and living in Florida.

During the 60's, 70's & 80's, Harry was very active in The First Presbyterian Church, Downton Orlando. He was a Decon  and an Elder, also co-taught one of the largest and most active Sr. High Sunday School classes during that time.

Harry is survived by a daughter Wendee Bartness, Gainesville & twin sons Cris & Jeff, & five grandchildren, Blake, Quinn & Willow Bartness, Kieley &  Lily Kate Whittaker, Cris's daughters

There will be NO funeral or service at the request of the deceased. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to South Orlando Soccer Club -TOP Soccer program (supporting his grand daughters) 4409 Hoffner Ave., Orlando, FL 32812 #122
