Muriel Kirnon

April 16, 1928 — August 20, 2021

Winter Springs, FL.

Muriel Kirnon was born to Ruth and Christopher Henry on the beautiful island of Antigua in the Caribbean. Her siblings included her older sister, Matilda, and half-brothers Victor and Zacky. Muriel formed an early fondness for music and could be heard singing and reciting poems in church. She had a beautiful Soprano voice, an in her teenage years, she joined a gospel choir. In her early twenties, she led out in programs teaching younger children gospel songs. One song she loved to sing was "No burdens yonder."

She relocated to St. Croix, Virgin Islands, where she met and married Charles Kirnon. After marriage, she taught in elementary schools while her husband acted as headmaster. The couple moved to the New York, USA and began working at Lenox Hill, an affluent hospital in the Upper East Side, as a nurse's aide. After doing this for a few years, Muriel re-entered college to become a nurse. She specialized in Maternal Child and loved working with both the mothers and their precious babies. She continued to be active in church playing the piano and singing to the glory of God. She was an accomplished seamstress, where she artfully sewed both male and female clothing.

The couple retired to Orlando Florida and became members of the Forest Lakes Seventh Day Adventist Church. They were comfortable in the presence of friends of all age groups and took on many philanthropic and church interests. Muriel continued to play the piano and organ and also added playing the saxophone to her repertoire.

Muriel is survived by her cousin Mildred Hinds and a host of second cousins. She is greatly missed by her extended family, but we know that we will see her again one day in the clouds of glory according to the blessed hope in Christ.
