Sylvia Iller

October 14, 1945 — June 4, 2019

Sylvia Clare Iller, 73, beloved Mother of 6 and Grandmother of 11, passed away on June 4, 2019.Her life began on October 14, 1945 in Lynwood, California. She was the youngest of four children Bert and Madelaine Slattery had raised. She had many hobbies throughout her life, including raising & training show dogs, being an aerobic dance instructor, sewing countless Halloween Costumes/Pajamas, matching shirts & stuffed animals. But the hobby she enjoyed the most was raising her six kids. Her family was her life, and she loved & supported her family more than words could describe. She met Pepper Iller during a church youth event, and married him when she was 19 years old. They loved and adored each other from then on. You've heard the saying "opposites attract"? It was probably coined because of them. He was loud, brash, & very gregarious. She was quiet, meek & shy. They complimented each other perfectly. During the first half of their marriage, her husband's career had her family relocate several times. From California, they moved to Connecticut, and then to Ohio before finally settling in Florida, where she helped her husband launch his own successful business. She shipped items to dental labs all over the country. When the company office downsized and moved into the back of the family house, she had more time to spend with her kids. But her first 4 were graduating and starting to move out. But to her joy, she was able to have 2 more children that she could smother with her love.In 2001, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and it slowly took control. After her husband's sudden passing in 2005, she moved to Jacksonville to be near her son Tim, who took over as her primary caretaker in her final years.Sylvia was preceded in death by her father Bert, her mother Madelaine, her brother "Bud", and her husband "Pepper". She is survived by her two sisters, Virginia Vine (Crestline, CA) and Nancy Robinson (Corvallis, OR), all six of her children, Christopher Iller (Tampa, FL), Timothy Iller (Orange Park, FL), Tyler Iller (Tampa, FL), Westley Iller (Roseville, IL), Parker Iller (Topanga, CA), and Madelaine Geddie (Orange Park, FL).A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, June 16 at The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Longwood, Florida, followed by her burial at 3pm at Highland Memory Gardens in Apopka, FL.
