Sylvia (Webb) Rountree, 69 passed away peacefully at her home in Apopka, Florida on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. She lost her hard-fought battle with cancer after nearly two years.
Sylvia was born November 2, 1951 in Orlando, Florida to Brent and Ellene (Moore) Webb. Sylvia is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Skip Rountree, of Apopka, Florida, her two daughters Angela Rountree and Elaina (Jim) Fischer, her Sister Margaret (Robert) Hurst, and her grandchildren James, Collin, Lilly, Hayden, Ava, and Bennett. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brent and Ellene Webb and her brother Hubert Webb.
Sylvia graduated from Ocoee High School in 1969. She continued her education at Rollins College in 1996 with a BA in Psychology and went on to earn her MA in Counseling from Rollins College in 2000. She led a successful career in education, most recently as a high school guidance counselor for 14 years at West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida. She retired after 35 years of service to Orange County Public Schools in October of 2020.
Sylvia was a devoted wife, mother, grammy, friend and mentor to many. She was a member of First Baptist Church Winter Garden. She enjoyed spending time with family above all, especially her grandchildren. She loved traveling with Skip and their friends. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
Join us to celebrate Sylvia's life at a funeral service to be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church Winter Garden, 125 E Plant St, Winter Garden, FL 34787. Burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens 3329 East Semoran Blvd, Apopka, FL 32703. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Winter Garden on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
