Wandell Lovejoy

March 16, 1943 — January 9, 2020

On Thursday, January 9th, 2020, Wandell Gene “Frank” Lovejoy, father of three children, went to be with the Lord at the age of 76.

Frank was born March 16th, 1943, in Chauncey, W.V. to Harry and Mildred Lovejoy. After High School, Frank joined the United States Army, spending much of his service time stationed in Germany. Following his time in the service, Frank received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and later earned his MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Frank worked many years in the telecommunications business managing marketing efforts for Florida Telephone, United Telephone System, which later became the Sprint Corporation. Frank found a second career as a licensed insurance agent and worked later in life in the real estate business. Through his tremendous humor and wit, Frank had a unique charm all his own and he loved to secure a good laugh from those around him.

Frank was a voracious reader who loved history, with a passionate focus on American history. He deeply loved his country and the United States Constitution. He spent a great deal of time and effort supporting local, state, and federal candidates who shared his values through his many years of service to the Republican Party in Lake County... Frank loved sports, was an avid golfer, and later in life routinely returned to his native West Virginia to hunt in the mountains.

Through it all he never lost his love for the land of his birth, “West, By God, Virginia” as he would affectionately refer to the Mountain State. While many songs have been written in recognition of West Virginia, “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver was always held in high regard by Frank as the opening lyrics, “Almost Heaven, West Virginia…,” well described his feelings towards the state of his birth. Frank loved music and he loved to sing. Among his many music loves, bluegrass reigned supreme with gospel, hymns, classical, and Elvis not far behind.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Harry, his mother, Mildred, his brothers, Delane and Carlos, and his sister, Patsy. He is survived by Doris and Sandra “Jean” Lovejoy, his children, Dell (Jenna), Traci (Chad), and Adam (Jessica). In addition, his six grandchildren, Kimberly, Destiny, Bailey, Libbey, Reid, Kara, and two Great Grandsons, Jamison and Noah. Finally, a half brother, Rossie.

A Celebration of Life Memorial and Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2020 at Highland Memory Garden located at 3329 E. Semoran Blvd., Apopka, Florida.
