William O'Connor

William Robert O'Connor (Bill) was born on July 18, 1938 to the union of Robert and Lottie O'Connor in Kansas City, Missouri and passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Advent Health Hospital in Apopka, Florida at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 19 days.

Bill graduated from Bosworth High School in Missouri in 1956. In 1958, he then enlisted in the United States Navy until his retirement of the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1976. In 1978 he took a job in the Civil Service working as a quality control technician in avionics at Naval Air Rework Facility (NARF) and the Naval Depot (NADEP) at NAS Jacksonville Florida. During this time Bill was also accepted into the University of Northern Florida and later obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and shortly after reached his second retirement. Bill then took a job teaching at the Apopka High School until his final retirement.

Bill married the love of his life, Sharon (née Gamble) into Holy Matrimony on December 4, 1971 at the 103rd Street Baptist Church in Jacksonville Florida. They resided in Orange Park, Florida, for many years before moving to their current home in Apopka, Florida. Bill was an active member of the Markham Woods Seventh Day Adventist Church and served as a Deacon as well as volunteering in many capacities of church duties as he faithfully served the Lord.
Bill's favorite interests included being outdoors manicuring his yard and fixing and repairing things. He also loved Cars and was very knowledgeable with vehicle engines and genuinely loved working on and admiring classic automobiles. Bill also was a family man. He loved pleasing his wife Sharon, mentoring his sons, and Grandpa especially had a special place in his heart for his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Bill will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes: (Wife): Sharon Kae O'Connor of Apopka, Florida; (Sister): Hazel O'Connor-Hibner Wood of Chillicothe, Missouri; (Sons): Bob O'Connor and wife Judy of Rolla, Missouri; Andy O'Connor of St. James, Missouri; Edward O'Connor and wife Kelly of Newalla, Oklahoma; Jeffrey O'Connor and wife Carissa of Apopka, Florida; (Grandchildren): Mathew and Jonathon O'Connor, Krystal Borgschulte, Daniel, Emily, Kristen and Sean O'Connor, Catherine and Taylor Gardner, Donavan and Aiden O'Connor. (Great Grandchildren): Caspian, Bentley, Alex and Damien; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by His father and Mother: Robert and Lottie O'Connor, Sons: William Kelly O'Connor and Kevin James O'Connor.

He was a Loving Husband, Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and Good Friend to many and will be sadly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Markham Woods Seventh Day Adventist Church (505 Markham Woods Rd, Longwood, FL) on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Graveside service with Military Honors will be conducted at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery (5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754) Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 2:30 p.m.
