Damarys Rodriguez Clayton

February 1, 1981 — December 18, 2020

Orlando, FL.

Damarys Rodriguez-Clayton , daughter of Lucila and Ruben Vicente was born February 1, 1981 in Bronx, New York. She moved to Orlando, Florida with her family while still a young child. She was a graduate of Edgewater High School in 1999. At the age of 21, she became a mother with her first and only daughter Makayla Marie. She endured a two-year battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma undergoing radiation and chemotherapy from 2002-2004. She was determined to be brave and her main motivation to fight and never give up was her first heartbeat, Makayla.

In 2004, she met the love of her life, Shelton “Blake” Clayton. They were united in marriage on December 6, 2014. This union was blessed with her miracle child, a son, Darius Levar and in recent years, their fur baby Bentley whom she loved so much. In 2018, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She endured this battle with courage and strength and encouraged others in the same fight as her to push through as she did. Damarys was employed with Walgreens as a Specialty Certified Pharmacy Technician for the past 15 years, and in recent years stepped out into entrepreneurship selling Grandma Emma's renowned red velvet recipe. She was excited to learn new recipes to offer her loyal customer base and expand her business. She was a devoted mother and loved children. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a passion for make-up, celebrations and traveling. She was known to talk nonstop, driving while completely distracted, not being able to sit still for very long and she could never say no to anyone. If you needed her for anything, she would be there. She could be short tempered and impatient at times, but her huge heart is what she is best known for. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by so many. She was beautiful inside and out and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life for her eternal rest surrounded by her close family on Friday, December 18, 2020.

Most recently, she was preceded in death by her grandmother Juana Coriano, father-in-law Bernard “Bronc” Clayton, aunt Luz Maria Cruz, brother Anthony “Tuffy” Rodriguez, cousin Luis Cruz, nephew Venderkel Clayton and Godfather Alberto Rivera. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of those she leaves behind: husband, Shelton Clayton, daughter, Makayla Blackshear, son, Darius Clayton, mother Lucila Vicente, father Ruben Vicente, sister Christina Vicente, brother Otoniel Coco Rodriguez, Jr. (Kimberly), mother-in-law Gwendolyn White Clayton, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
